Service overview

Plumbing installations by a qualified engineer, not a handyman

What it is

First-fix and second-fix plumbing covering hot and cold supply, waste and soil, appliance connections, pressure testing, and coordination with gas and heating works. We install into new bathrooms and kitchens, re-pipe whole houses, and diagnose intermittent leaks.

Who it's for

Homeowners renovating a property, landlords upgrading tired pipework, and clients whose existing plumbing has failed intermittently for months and never been properly diagnosed.

When you need it

Old lead or galvanised pipework, low mains pressure, boiler upgrade needing a re-pipe, extension or loft conversion that changes supply routes, or a leak that no one has yet traced properly.

Why professional matters

Plumbing failures rarely announce themselves, they seep, stain and rot silently. The founder holds the City & Guilds plumbing qualification and prices the job to pass pressure tests, not just to look tidy behind a panel.

The cost of getting it wrong

What poor plumbing quietly costs you

Bad plumbing doesn't fail on day one. It fails on day 200, inside a wall, into a joist, and shows up as a stain on the ceiling below.

If ignored

  • Concealed leaks rot structure

A weeping compression joint above a plaster ceiling can drip for months before it shows, by then joists and plasterwork are shot.

  • Low pressure across the house

Undersized pipework or the wrong pressure-reducing valve means the shower dies whenever the kitchen tap runs.

  • Failed pressure tests at handover

A first-fix that hasn't been pressure-tested to 6 bar is a leak waiting to happen once plastered in.

  • Boiler warranties voided

Manufacturer warranties on new boilers require correctly sized pipework and a system flush. Cut corners here, warranty gone.

Common mistakes

  • Using push-fit everywhere for speed

Push-fit has its place, but overusing it in load-bearing runs or where copper is more appropriate is a false economy.

  • Skipping the pressure test

The only way to guarantee first-fix pipework before it's covered up is a witnessed pressure test. If your installer skips this, walk away.

  • Mixing metals without transition fittings

Copper directly onto galvanised steel corrodes at the joint. Correct dielectric fittings cost pennies and last decades.

How it works

A step-by-step system,
not a guess.

  1. 01

    Step 1

    Free survey

We inspect the current system, mains pressure, boiler capacity and pipe runs, and listen to the symptoms you're seeing.

  2. 02

    Step 2

    Fixed written quote

Itemised quote back inside the same week, scope, materials, timeline and staged payments.

  3. 03

    Step 3

    First-fix pipework

Copper and push-fit runs installed to the design, insulated, and pressure tested to 6 bar before closing up.

  4. 04

    Step 4

    Second fix & commissioning

Appliances, brassware and boiler connected, hot-water flow rates checked, and system power-flushed where required.

  5. 05

    Step 5

    Sign-off & 12-month guarantee

Pressure-test certificate, commissioning notes and a 12-month workmanship guarantee in writing.

Materials & methods

Materials, methods & installations we deliver

Plumbing is a materials job as much as a labour job. Getting the right pipe in the right run, sized correctly for pressure and flow, is what separates a system that lasts 30 years from one that fails at year 5.

Materials we work with

  • Copper pipe with soldered and compression joints for structural runs
  • Push-fit (Hep2O / Speedfit) for accessible service runs
  • MDPE for underground mains supply
  • Correctly sized pressure-reducing valves and expansion vessels
  • Insulated pipework to Part L for hot supplies and boilers
  • Dielectric fittings for copper-to-steel transitions

Methods & standards

  • 6-bar pressure test on first-fix pipework before covering up
  • Hot-water flow-rate testing at every outlet before handover
  • Boiler system flush to BS 7593 on install and appliance change
  • Correct pipe sizing calculations for combined-load demand
  • Gas Safe registered engineer for any gas or boiler works

Variations of this service

Whole-house re-pipe

Full strip-out and replacement of failing lead / galvanised / plastic pipework, typically alongside a renovation.

Bathroom & kitchen plumbing

First-fix into new bathrooms and kitchens as part of a wider fit-out contract.

Boiler upgrade & re-pipe

Combi or system boiler upgrade with the pipework upgrades needed to hit warranty terms.

Leak diagnosis & repair

Trace-and-access leak diagnosis, sectional repair and reinstatement of finishes.

Mains upgrade

25mm MDPE mains upgrade for properties with historic low pressure or lead supply pipes.

Property types & settings

We install into Victorian and Edwardian terraces (where old lead and galvanised runs are still common), mansion-block flats (with leaseholder consents where required), 1930s semis and modern new-builds.
