Service overview

A kitchen fit, coordinated by one accountable team

What it is

A kitchen installation covers strip-out, first-fix plumbing and electrics, wall and floor preparation, cabinetry assembly and installation, worktop templating and fit, appliance installation, gas connection where required, splashbacks, decoration, snagging and testing. The whole scope sits inside one contract with one project manager.

Who it's for

Homeowners upgrading a dated kitchen, families combining a kitchen with a rear extension to create an open-plan living space, and landlords or investors preparing a property for sale or a higher rental value.

When you need it

Most clients call when their current kitchen is 15+ years old, cabinets are failing at hinge or drawer level, worktops are damaged, appliances are on their last legs, or a house move / extension has changed the room's layout entirely.

Why professional matters

A kitchen is where mm-tolerances matter most. Worktop templates only work if cabinet runs are dead level, appliances only sit flush if aperture cuts are exact, and gas / water / electrical services have to land in the right place first-time, pulling out a run of cabinets to move a socket costs days.

The cost of getting it wrong

What goes wrong when a kitchen is fit on the cheap

The kitchen is the most complex room in the house to install. Cheap installs cut corners on the sequence, and every one of those corners costs the owner later.

If ignored

  • Worktop template failures

Cabinets that aren't dead level produce a template the stonemason can't work from. That means a re-template, a re-cut, and 2-3 weeks of extra lead time on a kitchen you can't cook in.

  • Appliance apertures cut wrong

An oven or hob housing cut a few mm out means the appliance doesn't sit flush, and once the worktop is on, it's a strip-out to correct.

  • Gas / electric in wrong locations

Sockets, gas points and waste that don't land where the cabinets expect them mean holes cut through backs, dropped drawer runners, or worse, cabinets that never quite close.

  • Water damage from bad seals

Poor sealing around sinks and hobs is the #1 killer of laminate and MDF cabinetry. You get swelling at the front edge of the sink base inside 12 months.

Common mistakes

  • Buying the kitchen before the site survey

Ordering cabinets and appliances before a fitter has surveyed the room is how people end up with 60mm too much cabinet or a fridge that doesn't fit through the door.

  • Choosing stone before templating

Lead times on quartz and granite worktops run 2-4 weeks from template. Choose late and the whole schedule slips.

  • Mixing installers and suppliers

When the kitchen supplier and the installer are different companies, mis-orders become nobody's problem. One accountable contract fixes it.

Materials & methods

Materials, methods & variations we install

London kitchens run from a compact galley in a mansion-block flat to a 6m island in an open-plan extension. Here's what we work with.

Materials we work with

  • Rigid and flat-pack cabinetry (Howdens, Wren, Magnet, Kutchenhaus and bespoke joinery)
  • Quartz, granite, sintered stone (Dekton, Neolith) and solid timber worktops
  • Full-height splashbacks in stone, glass and porcelain
  • Integrated and freestanding appliances (Bosch, Neff, Siemens, Miele, Wolf, Sub-Zero)
  • Undermount, inset and Belfast sinks with quooker-style boiling taps
  • LVT, engineered timber and porcelain tile flooring
  • Under-cabinet LED, plinth lighting and pendant runs over islands

Methods & standards

  • Cabinets set on adjustable legs and shimmed dead level before templating
  • Waste and water first-fixed to cabinet-back positions, not floor centres
  • Gas relocation and commissioning by a Gas Safe registered engineer
  • Notifiable electrics installed to BS 7671 and Part P certified
  • Silicone seals around sinks and hobs renewed as good practice at year 5

Every kitchen is quoted on a fixed-price basis after a free survey. Cabinet spec, stone choice and appliance level are the three biggest variables, so we never quote from a spec sheet alone. You'll have an itemised written quote back inside the same week.

A standard kitchen fit runs 3-4 weeks on site, mostly driven by stone worktop lead times (typically 2-3 weeks from template). We agree the full programme in writing before we start.

Either works. We install kitchens the client has bought directly from Howdens, Wren, Magnet, Kutchenhaus and independent designers, and we also project-manage supply through our own trade accounts if you'd rather have it all on one invoice.

Yes. Gas work is carried out by our Gas Safe registered engineer; notifiable electrics are installed and Part P certified through our NICEIC-registered partners.

Every kitchen install carries our 12-month workmanship guarantee in writing. Appliance and cabinet warranties from the manufacturer sit on top of that.

Yes, most of our kitchen installs are part of a wider extension or open-plan project. The extension, kitchen and any structural work are managed under one contract with one programme.

For a like-for-like refit, usually not. For new gas points, notifiable electrics, or a kitchen forming part of an extension, yes, we arrange sign-off as part of the job.

We work throughout North and West London, including St John's Wood, Paddington, Kensington, Bayswater, Regents Park, Hampstead, Hammersmith, Chiswick and Ealing Broadway.

A well-installed kitchen with quality cabinetry and stone worktops should last 15-20 years easily. Doors and drawer runners are the first components to wear; hinges and runners are usually replaceable in-situ.
